Thank you very much for visiting, and welcome to my art/photo journal!
This journal represents a serious amateur's forays into the world of photography and digital art. I wish to learn by sharing my experiences with others and discussing photography techniques, image post processing techniques and aesthetics in general.
My photography consists mainly of portraits and still lifes, but I have done nature, wildlife and street photography. I prefer natural arraingements and poses to contrived ones. My favorite theme is period and historical fantasy. My developing visual style usually constitutes low-key photos with bold, often cool colors and a serene feel. I like to emphasize visual texture and a natural simplicity of composition in my shots.
I limit the photos posted here to what I would classify as a "finished" or "near finished" piece. When posting my work, I also offer backstory as to what inspired me to take the shot and about the technical details of how I handle photos and art in post production. I do this both to share my methods with others and in turn, to invite others to share how they would have handled the same piece.
I highly encourage everyone to critique my work. I would ask that everyone be as honest and detailed in their critiques as possible. I also ask that everyone please respect me and my work by asking for permission before using my photos. I'm usually very easy going about giving such permissions, but I do take my professionalism rather seriously. I am a strong proponent of people having class before they can have style. Please be classy.
For inquiries on using my photos and digital artwork commercially or as stock photos, please contact me at justin@goldomega.com
On the origins of Goldomega:
The first effect/image I ever produced in Photoshop was from a tutorial on how to make gold text back in Photoshop version 3. The first character I tried the effect on was an Omega. The gold omega represents my roots in computer graphics and I use it in many of my digital art pieces.
Equipment:
Canon Rebel Digital SLR, 6MP
Canon EFS 18-55mm Zoom Lens
Canon EF 70-200mm Zoom Lens
Canon EFL 100mm Macro Lens
2 Quartz Studio Lamps
